Rider Training; Even riders need to practice

Agu woke early, the rays of the sun were just starting to peak through the sky. She decided she would go train and mabie help some younger riders out a little. She called Ophelia with her mind, grabbed her white rider's sword and her bow and quiver, then went outside.

The beating of her dragon's wings could be heard on this silent morning, and Agu looked up to see Ophelia swooping down in front of her. Ophelia's white scales caught the morning sunlight, nearly blinding Agu with purples, blues, and greens. Agu swept her light blue hair out of her eyes and climbed onto Ophelia bareback.

Where to? asked Ophelia.

The training grounds, replied Agu, I'd like to practice some melee, and mabie some ranged. If any other riders in training come I'd be happy to spar with them as well.

With a great flap of her wings, Ophelia was off, and in three more flaps she had landed in the ranged training arena. Agu strung her bow and aimed at the target. Her first falcon-feather arrow hit the bullseye, and her second one landed right next to it. She called the arrows back with magic and wondered wether there was another way to do this so she didn't have to do that every five seconds. Then she got an idea. She called her white chainmail shirt with magic and put it over the target. Her arrows wouldn't break her chainmail unless she enchanted them, and she could still see the bullseye through the links. She aimed an arrow at the mail and hit the bullseye. The arrow, of course, bounced off it, which was good because it didn't block the bullseye for the next arrow, and the next arrow. After all her arrows were in a neat pile at the far side of the feild, she summoned them back again.

After a few rounds of this Agu began to get bored. Why? Because that's what Agu does. Agu sent her chainmail, bow, and arrows back home, then moved onto the melee feild. Nobody was there yet, but Agu hoped they'd come soon, in the mean time she practiced her stances and parried invisible enemies.

Vincent sighed as he walked into the training grounds. He was far too tired to do anything with a bow, and irritated that he got himself up so early, and decided to use some of the magic he had learned on one of the targets. The magic from a distant land, the ability to control nature, is what he was thinking of. He clasped his hands in a strange form with his two index fingers pointing upward, and muttered,

"Zestroin five, target. I reject!"

The target at the end was knocked over, by a large vine, seemingly comprised of several thousand smaller vines, which had simply sprouted out of the ground with amazing speed. His large beard was in the way, but he flicked it back with his immense hands, and sighed again. His deep feelings for nature gave him strength and ability.

He looked over at another target beside it, made the same formation with his hands, and muttered,

"Zestroin four, moths. Your disgusting ways will now be food. Feel their small but powerful might. Go ahead my beautiful moths, here is my boon. Devour the target, savour each bite."

The target was soon shrouded in a strange cloud of moths, which came seemingly from nowhere. It moved around within itself menacingly, and soon, dispelled, leaving only the stand where the starget stood, and several small chunks of it.

Agu stared over at the person who was doing magic. She had never seen that kind of magic in all her years as a rider.

Go to him, came Ophelia's voice, you may learn something new.

Agu came over to the ranged area and watched in silence for awhile. Then she approached him.

"Kvetha Fricai," she said, "Atra esterni ono thelduin," she began the elven greeting.

Vincent paused, and then looked over to see the girl. He was puzzled by the Elven language and it's odd punctuation. "Uh... hi...?" he replied with a confused tone. "Uh, I don't speak... whatever you're speaking."

Agu smiled, not unkindly. "I am sorry. I just would have thought... well... you being in Ellesmera... erm, sorry." Agu looked at her feet. Now this was awkward. "I am Agu, rider and friend."

Agu felt Ophelia nudge her mentally.

"And this is Ophelia," Ophelia stepped foreward and bowed her head. "Where did you learn magic like that? In all my years as a rider I have never seen that method of magic." Agu couldn't feel but feeling a little nervous around him.

"Oh, this?" Vincent looked at his hands, and then at the two targets. The small silence was broken by a piece of the eaten target falling to the ground with a clump. "It's from a far off land, which has long since been forgotten by all other nations."

Vincent pulled out his large, golden and ebony battle axe and looked at Agu.

"Pleased to make your acquaintance, but that's not my only way of attacking."

Vincent lifted his axe readily, faced another target, and ran with immense speed towards it, his long, black and shaggy hair following him. He made a large jump at one target, and dropped down, slicing it cleanly in two, but also removing a large pat of the target, widening the gap between the two halfs of it.

Agu wondered how he could use any magic without knowing the anciant language.

Agu drew her white riders sword.

"Would you like to spar?" she asked.

Vincent looked back, and juped at the offer. "Yes, oh my lord yes. I haven't had a good spar in ages."

Vincent placed his hand on the blades of his axe, and muttered, "Zestrion ten, ores of the axe, dull."

He axe vibrated for a small bit, and it soon went back to normal, looking as though nothing changed. Vincent bent low into a fighting stance.

"Geuloth du knifr," said Agu, similarly dulling her sword. She bent low and stared. She waited for him to make the first move...

Agu dodged and weaved, faking and parrying. She saw at once that Vincent was a great fighter, but not enough to match an elf. Agu jumped clean over him and his axe and had it out of his hand before you could say 'speed'. Agu put her sword up to his neck and said, "Dead."

She smiled and lowered her sword.

He smirked, and lept over her, like a wild cat, to his axe. "Very good, for someone as young as yourself." He removed it from the small hole it created on impact, and held it at the ready. "However, the youths cannot hope to achieve more than the elders." He held it up again, holding it on it's side so the large spike on the top pointed at Agu. He ran at her again, dodging every other attack she made. He faked a couple times, and then faked her head, giving him a chance to disarm her. He knicked her hand with the hilt of his axe, and held up the sword he knocked away from her, and made a quick slash with it, stopping just before her guy. He smirked again, and flipped it in mid-air, holding out the hilt of her sword to her, awaiting her to take it.

Agu grinned and took the sword. This was fun. Agu gave it her all and used her elven speed to circle him again and again, her sword giving out slashes at his axe and defending her. Agu hoped to make him dizzy with how fast he was going, to get a week spot open to disarm him again.

Vincent jumped backward, and ran at her with high hopes. He jumped to the side, roled on the ground, to the side again and slashed upward.

Agu didn't stop. She jumped and weaved and blocked and faked, but to no avail.

This will go on all day if we do not stop said Ophelia, why not invite him to ride with you?

Agu shouted over the clang of metal. "Would you like to ride Ophelia with me?"
